Tom Green NEWS

January 1st 2001.
EEEEEEEUnlike last year, this year I have the first update of 2001. What do I deserve? A festive Banana; for uploading the page update at 12:01 am while watching "Goodfellas" on TV here in Toronto. The year 2000 has seen many changes in the format of the Tom Green show as we knew it.. mainly the biggest change is the fact that the show doesnt exist anymore. Tom starred in 2 highly successfull major hollywood films: Road Trip and Charlie's Angels; but also created 2 one hour Tom Green show specials that were forever embedded in both the media's top shows of the year, and of ours (the fans) top shows of the year.

First the Monica Lewinsky special.. a show that showcased the media's colossal waste of time covering the non event of Tom's "historical" announcement regarding the making of a hand bag made from his parents bed spread by Monica herself. The event in Ottawa made national headlines (with such pre-event speculation as: were they getting married, what could the announcement be? will Tom and Monica announce a baby?!). Soon after the Monica special aired, the creative minds behind the tom green show were forced with a problem: How were they ever gonna top the Monica Lewinsky special? Soon after Tom developed the answer himself: testicular cancer. Facing his own mortality, Tom turned a negative into a positive; he made a television special out of his ordeal. During this event, He also became closer with his future fiancée Drew Barrymore.

With one less testicle, Tom somehow still managed to continue to have "more balls" than the rest of us. He aired the "Cancer Special" to rave reviews, and critical acclaim...people everywhere loved it; even if it was graphically graphic. Sure, some people believed Tom was "faking it", but these were also the same people who believed "Gervase" was the winner of Survivor earlier this summer. Tom also fully recovered and has a big battle scar to show people.

Once the Cancer special was in the bag (no pun intended), the show ended. For the first time since the mid 1990's, Tom no longer had a show to star in. Taking some time off, Tom and long time bud Derek Harvie began to write the final version of a film they had had in their minds for years called "Freddy Got Fingered". The film went into production near the end of the summer, and wrapped near the end of the fall.

Tom took a break to host Saturday Night Live, almost get married to Drew on the air, and give the show one of its highest ratings of the year. Going back to "Freddy", the film is currently in post production mode with a release date set for April 2001. So there you have it.. a short recap in the year of tom green's universe.

Has the show ended for good? I hope not. There hasnt been a definitive answer on the subject yet, although at least one special for "Freddy Got Fingered" will be made into a television special for MTV under the "Tom Green Show" name moniker.

Road Trip has finally been released on DVD, as the Unrated Special Edition Ive been blabbering on about for weeks now. A big review will be coming soon, but until then here are a few "titillating" hilights.

its boner time!

December 8th 2000.
Wow almost an entire month without an update. As you all know, Im anti cheap updates.. Ill update when there is something good to update with. Well I didnt bother with the whole Saturday Night Live coverage, as it turns out it was pretty anti-climatic. I ended up taping it, and found a few things amusing; one thing that is amusing is the people selling copies of the show on Ebay. I believe one went for 40$+ with the promise that the show was rare and un-edited.. Actually here is the exact quote used. It sold for 42.51$ . check it out

This is a recording of the now infamous Saturday Night Live episode hosted by Tom Green with musical guest David Grey aired 11.18.00. This was live and unedited. Due to the controversy over this episode, it may never be re-aired or available for rebroadcast on Comedy Central

Wow the show is Infamous already? It was on 2 weeks ago. There wasnt anything controversial about the show, just that nothing happened at the end. Although I tried and exhausted all available channels, I wasnt able to score tickets to Saturday Night Live from Tom Green show personnel... this in itself is not controversial either. So thats basically it, I suppose in the future I will have screen grabs to add to the episode guide. The skit I liked the most involved Tom getting marriage counseling, I liked that one.

Unrated EditionIf you cant tell, Im trying to write alot so it looks like a juicy news update. In Tom on DVD news, the best DVD review site around has received a copy of Road Trip, both the rated and unrated cuts of the film. What I didnt know was that the movie includes a DTS 5.1 mix. For those of you without a home theater system this will mean nothing to you.. for those of you without even a DVD player, just skip this entire thing and worship the pan and scan VHS when it comes out. The review is pretty good. Im not gonna rip the page off because I value it for tips on DVDs to buy. Check out the full review here. The extra footage available on the Unrated cut is apparently all footage of female tits and ass. (T&A if you are offended by the words TIT or ASS *like on the Tom Green message board*).

The last message I have received from Glenn Humplik dates back to November 13th.. ahh I remember like it was only yesterday. It was a monday. I believe I didnt work that day, so I stayed home and ate bacon and pancakes while watching one of the greatest shows ever Northern Exposure. Since then, I have sent Glenn many a email, infact even leaving a voice message on his machine. Glenn must be really busy, or perhaps he is taking a no fan boy attitude now that he lives in California. Im bummed either way.

take 3.. actionHere hot off the airwaves are some new images of Tom from the set of his upcoming directorial debut "Freddy Got Fingered".the beard One thing that will surprise you is that Tom has long hair in the movie! (good wig). It was an "on location" interview, taking place on a runway with an airplane, and many extras in Vancouver BC. Tom was interviewed along with Harland Williams, and Rip Torn. Tom (Gord Brody) and his father Rip (Jim Brody) have been held captive in this scene, and are returned home... with lots of screaming fans waiting for them (its exciting). All the characters that are in the movie are in this scene (perhaps near the end of the movie?) and are cheering when the men exit the plane (with military escorts). Apparently this is the first time in the movie that you see Tom and Rip's character's happy together, as the movie is about a war between them. However, they finally make up in an interesting way. Harland Williams plays Darren, a banker and Tom's best friend in the movie. He usually ends up being the butt end of Tom's hijinks in the movie. The movie wrapped up shooting recently in LA on November 3rd, and is now in Post Production mode. Take a look at the pictures from the set.

There will be some animals in this film. Some milk sucking of cows, and a caterpillar named milkweed. There is also a horse in the movie that gets pleasured by Tom's character. Also Anthony Michael Hall of Weird Science fame is cast in the movie (exciting!). The best film ever made in the history of cinema. Tom thinks so.. the movie should be out April 20 2001 according to the imdb. Again, more images from the set, and one picture of me posing with my 1981 vintage Indiana Jones figure; Tom and I share the same hair dresser. Also of interest: Note the first image below.. guess Tom isnt a spokesman for Pepsi One anymore.

Tom has always enjoyed coke hostages rock? now you know where all those ebay autographs come from.. no ticket..

Along with the exciting glimpses into the Freddy film, comes a Charlie's Angels report from Extra. Entertainment Lite. The show revolved around the filming of Charlie's Angels and of Drew Barrymore; but then featured a report on Drews love.. Tom. First, I just love how American shows completely skip over the Comedy Network days. For the misinformed, this is a travesty of Green History. Tom started on community access, which led him to a deal with MTV? There were a few years between the ending of the community access show and MTV. Aside from this, it was a standard history lesson. Oh wait, one more thing they messed up. While showing an old clip from the Rogers days called "The Tom Green Dance Circus", they explained that Tom interrupted a dance class with his hijinks. Actually, Tom and some dancers took over a Royal Bank (of Canada) ATM entrance way and pissed off a few customers. I like water marks as much as the next guy, but there is such a thing as overkill. Take a look at the screen grab from this scene. We have the Rogers watermark (which is where the clip originated). The new MTV Tom Green Show logo over that (I suppose this was from the Rogers special on MTV which I havent seen). Then we have the Extra watermark (Cant forget you are watching Extra!) and finally, the Life network watermark (where I taped this show from..) It makes for a fine mess.

Im a big idiot I like to move it move it!

At the end of the Extra segment, the stooge who was hosting informed the audience with little sympathy that if you liked the Tom Green show, too bad, he isnt making them anymore instead to focus on his film career. This isnt entirely true, as I posted a long time ago, production of the show has shut down for a while to let Tom make his film. No one has said that there will never be another episode of the Tom Green show. Chances are that Tom will make another film after this one (THE MONSTER) and then produce a few episodes of the TV show. Tom isnt David Duchovney; he cant do movies and tv at the same time.. If you want him to do that, then one or the other will suck. Let him focus on one thing, and that thing will be great. If you fans keep emailing me, this is the only message you will get.

November 1st 2000.
More Road Trip DVD info! As I previously reported, the DVD will be released on December 19th along with the VHS version. Also, the DVD will be released in two different versions! Both the Theatrical and the Unrated cuts of the film. Both will contain the same special features and specs, but will feature different case artwork (with the Unrated featuring additonal movie material)... check them out!

Theatrical Version Unrated Edition

By the looks of things, (The Unrated version especially) Tom is now the star of this film. Check out the spines of the DVD's, both have images of Toms face peering out at you. This will look cool within a DVD collection. Again, like the American Pie DVD released last year (I believe mid December as well..) it has the text "The Version You Couldnt See in Theatres" . Most stores wont be ordering anything but the Unrated version, so if you want to make a collectible out of it, look out for the normal Theatrical version. Also, If you dont know the mystical powers of DVD, you are missing out.

Here is a small press release from Dreamworks Entertainment.

DreamWorks Pictures and The Montecito Picture Company's $67 million, side-splitting summer box office success Road Trip, starring the hugely popular Tom Green, hits the highway for VHS and DVD on December 19, 2000 - just in time for millions on holiday break to rent or buy. The latest hit film from Ivan Reitman, the maker of the definitive college comedy "Animal House," Road Trip releases in both a rated and unrated version. Like last year's hugely successful release of "American Pie," the unrated edition of Road Trip comes complete with uncensored, never-before-seen footage from the movie's famed shower scene. The quintessential PaRtY DVD, Road Trip will feature seven deleted scenes labeled "Road Kill," a music video and interactive DVD-ROM elements like a Road Trip game where players attempt to travel from Ithaca, NY to Austin, TX (the premise of the movie) by correctly answering trivia questions, among other hilarious components. The rated and unrated versions will be distinguished by different packaging art; the latter featuring the cast in their birthday suits behind a giant Texas license plate that reads "UN R8D." Both DVD versions are priced as low as $19.95, with the VHS versions available for rental. The rated version of the film has an MPAA R rating and running time of 94 minutes.

Famed shower scene? Its been a while since I saw RoadTrip, but I dont remember a shower scene, and if its never before seen, how can it be famed? None the less; should be good times. As far as features of the actual DVD: here they are!

Road Trip DVD: The digitally educated will be able to cruise through a multitude of fun extras on the Road Trip DVD beginning with Road Kill, seven deleted scenes that will be included in both rated and un-rated versions. The scenes add more hilarity with additional jokes and visual gags, including a comical dream sequence and a special Kyle rap song. A garage full of other features on both DVD versions include: an Eels Music Video featuring the movie's hit song "Mr. E's Beautiful Blues"; an uproarious behind-the-scenes featurette hosted by Tom Green; a DVD-ROM interactive trivia game (especially made for parties); Road Trip themed screen saver; theatrical trailers; and much more.

October 29th 2000.
in Road Trip on home video news, the DVD is due on December 19th, and will be released UNRATED. Dreamworks will be releasing the unrated version on DVD, boasting footage too gross to be shown in theaters. Universal did this with American Pie last year, releasing an Unrated Cut and a normal R rated cut; and for the most part it was a waste of time. However, its a good marketing ploy to get you to buy the release. You VHS owners; wake up. If you like the video games, buy a playstation 2, it plays DVD! Imagine that.

Rumor going around that Tom will be releasing a new CD in November; but dont bank on it. According to Glenn, he has recorded a few songs, and will continue to work on new material in the upcoming months (when he finds time). Tom has been insanely busy.

Thanks go out to Justin, for sending me some ancient footage of Tom on Much Music's Rap City (from 1992 or 3). Tom goes out to the streets of Ottawa in search of new hip hop talent. Its quite strange, because normally when interviewing people of this caliber, Tom would make weird and funny faces.. not this time, he seems genuinely interested. Justin will receive some good schtuff in exchange for this rare footage. If any of you out there have some Much Music footage (Tom and Organized Rhyme on Much Music performing, or the O.R. Loeb commercial) drop me a line, and we'll discuss.

Thats all for now. Rock over London, Rock on Chicago

October 22nd 2000.
Well if you checked out the "World Premiere Webcast" for Charlie's Angeles you probably are still getting over that embarrassed feeling. Why? The Internet is major, Tom has said this for years, but when people dont treat the Internet with respect, it tends to come and bite them on the ass. I dont know much about live television, but I do know my grade 11 Communications Technology class could've done a better job of running this thing. The interviewer on the red carpet must've just woken up 10 minutes prior to her interviewing gig. She had no idea what was going on, No idea who certain people were, and no idea what certain stars were doing with their careers. While waiting for certain stars to arrive on the red carpet to be interviewed they would throw to a clip from the movie; but as soon as the clip started, the star would arrive and they would cut back to the interviewer. You could hear people in the background saying "Cut to clip 1". You could hear air pass through the interviewer woman's head. This woman was not the strongest at improv. "Uhm... wow.. Charlie's Angels.. uhm, go and see it.. Lets go to a clip..uhm, no wait.. oh ok.. lets go to a <cut audio>.."

However Tom and Drew did show up, briefly. The woman interviewer had one of the Drew Barrymore (Charlie's Angels) dolls, and Tom took it from her and put it in his jacket. He gave it back 3 seconds later. Uhm, Well Drew commented on how the doll looked like her, Tom said "wow" about the Doll. They moved on. This was actually a hilight of the program. I think the word "Um" was used 100 times more than the phrase "Charlie's Angels".

Arent interviewers supposed to control their "OH MY GOD ITS COURTNEY LOVE" type feelings? Its a professional trait, that must be why. I hope the movie does some good for Tom and Drew.

There was a "spoof" of Tom and Drew on a show called Hype last night on the Comedy Network. Dont worry, you didnt miss anything. The guy had a fake goatee, and was referred to as "Tom"; aside from that, who would know it was about Tom. I think Kate Hudson did a better impression of Drew 2 weeks ago on Saturday Night Live than Drew does of herself. That Kate Hudson is going places I tell ya.

In Official TomGreen news; I talked with Glenn and here are some developments. Glenn has moved to Los Angeles, and is busy working on the re launch of TomGreen.com, which will have a new layout, and many other features. Glenn will also try to have old Rogers era video footage once again available online. Glenn spent a few days hanging out with Tom and Derek in Vancouver on the set of "Freddy Got Fingered"; and adds "Its going to be one hell of a movie!". A teaser trailer should be available soon. No word from where though. I got a chance to see the new TomGreen.com layout, and I was very impressed. Should be ready in about 3 weeks according to Glenn. Speaking of "Freddy", a while ago Derek Harvie sent me some images from the set of Freddy. Kebie posted them on his site, so I didnt think there was a point to post them. But I will post them now, one of the images is slightly different than the one Derek sent Kebie. Enjoi.

Derek on the set Tom directs Harland Williams Tom gives some tips to Rip Torn

I still have the Charlie's Angels webcast on.... man, I cant stand it. Its like driving by a car accident. You try to ignore it, but still you have to take a look. I cant bring myself to close the streaming video window. I guess the interviewer woman has completely run out of ideas, she is currently showing the 3 or 4 people who are watching this webcast what kinda buildings are around the Manns Chinese Theater. The director (if there is one) should just pull the plug. Please. If anyone else is watching this thing, let me know how it ends.

October 12th 2000.
Tom was on ET yet again, a standard ET appearance. You know; show a promo for Tom Green, then wait until the last 20 seconds of the 30 minute broadcast before you show it. Now either I walked through a time warp on the way to my bedroom, or ET didnt even play the segment!. I saw the promo on my computer TV, went upstairs, sat down for 28 mins watching some "interesting" coverage on such topics as Barbara Walters failed marriages, Kathie Lee live musical performance that sounds like a Shania Twain cover song, and finally an announcement about Kirk Cameron's birthday. No Tom Green segment however. Was it aired as I walked up the stairs (about a 50 second trip) Let me know here

From what I caught of the promo, it was that "zany" Tom Green up to his old tricks. He was bothering people on the streets regarding his upcoming marriage to Drew. I believe he was asking street walkers to wish himself and Drew well in their marriage, he also was following them around and annoying people as usual. They also showed the new cover of Premier magazine that features Drew on the cover along with a story about Tom. Well I checked out the magazine yesterday and it just reinvents the wheel (no new info on Tom). The pictures of Drew are quite nice, and if you want to read her "saying" FUCK, go for it!. I just remembered that I have the Playboy with Drew in it. Bizarre how things work out

Speaking of Drew, if you want the 12" version, check out the new Charlie's Angels doll collection. The likeness is pretty good, and apparently the doll features a new technology that allows for a more natural doll skeleton. No I didnt buy it. No Im not gay.

October 5th 2000.
Well honestly, there hasnt been much going on in the Tom Green world. Tom continues to work on his film in Vancouver, and has had a report on ET to bring you the exclusive first images from the set (actually Derek Harvie provided Kebie and I with that honor.. ohh sorry ET). None the less, the real big news today comes from LA Lounge Lizard Humplik Humperdink (glenn) who announced that Tom will be hosting Saturday Night Live on November 18th, 2000. Check out the SNL website for absolutly no relavent information related to the subject.

I knew the day would come eventually, and I cant wait to check it out. Tom's buddy Will Ferrell (whom he met on the set of "Superstar") should be pleased and honored that he gets to work with Tom again. All I can hope for is this: No monologue musical numbers. Its embarrsing to watch. Another thing. Tom if you cant remember the lines to the sketch, wear dark glasses in character. As soon as you start looking off camera reading your lines instead of looking at the actor you are doing the scene with.. the sketch falls apart and dies. At least you wont be as bad as Wayne Gretzky was for reading the lines while acting.

MTV has seemed to have forgotton about Tom and the show. Endless re-runs since March has taken its toll on the American Public. MTV has a new show called "Jackass" which takes the humor that Tom has done to a new level. One of the stars of the new show is Bam Margera who is best known from his Skate/Comedy videos CKY (camp kill yourself). Do yourself a favor, and go to your local Skateshop (or ebay) and buy their videos. If you thought Tom was gross for putting shit on a microphone and talking to people, check out CKY alumnus Brandon Dicamillo, as he wipes shit on his good friends mouth while the guy sleeps. The shit mouth guy then gets revenge by peeing on Brandon while he sleeps. Its non stop fun! and you wont see this kinda crass humor on MTV

Now that Glenn is settled in Casa Humplik in LA, the Episode Guide for the official site cant be too far away. Derek "Sex Offender" Harvie fibbed regarding Glenn's Burger King commercial, so if you read that and were sad that Glenn sold out for some burgers, dont be. I on the other hand thought it was awesome regardless, only I wouldve peddled Wendys over Burger King and there crumby crispy fries any day.

And finally, I fixed up my personal site AJ's Morbid Site (of love). If you are unhappy with my work on this site, wait till you check out my other site (s).
