The MTV video awards first appearance. September 1999 A sad appearance that exploited Tom and his talents for the new bosses at MTV. When the MTV awards started, it stated that Tom would be on. It didnt say that Tom would be peddling 50 cent calls to vote for a bunch of bands that are hand picked by MTV to begin with. 50 cents a call to vote? thats 50 cents American! Why would anyone want to help vote for something thats already set? Why would Tom agree to do it.. Probably to attract new fans and to keep his present job. I dont know the ins and outs.. Im just stating my opinion on the issue.. though I dont have all the facts. Tom (dressed as ScubaHood) was LIVE outside the award show.. playing in the fountain, and then reading off the who to vote for, how to vote, etc. There were 3 more bits of Tom doing this, one involved a car, and something else. The show was SO bad that I couldnt bother to stick around to tape the bits. Why do I care that fatboy slim won the best video award for what looks like handycam footage. Why would I want to see TLC perform "live" to their own voices.. same with Titney Spears and N'syck. Ok maybe I did watch the show. The real reason I didnt tape any was because I have bad luck.. and each time I flipped , chances are I missed them. back to the top   SuperStar: a Much Music special first and only appearance. October 1999 Still havent seen this film, but from what I hear.. the only highlights are Tom Green and Will Farrell. Rick the Temp from Much Music hosts this half hour special, and interviews the cast and crew.. he even got a bit part in the film. Skin Face Tom tells Rick a little about his part.. he plays Dillon.. he drinks alot of water in the film and lets it pour all over himself.. he yells alot, he jumps around.. and dances like a jackass. Tom also explains how he does somersaults in the movie.. and proceeds to do a few down the hall of the set. During the intense interview, Tom is called to the set.. a big scene is coming up and he is needed. He jokes around before the interview is cut onto the next buffoon that stars in the film. back to the top   The Gemini Awards hosted by Rick Mercer first appearance. November 1999 This marks the first award show that Toms actually present anything in, and he actually ended up being the most memorable highlight of the entire program (and IM not just saying that because IM a fan of the show). He present with a well known CBC actress named Sheila Something. The Gemini awards. Shown on CBC. Basically a CBC show. Hosted by Rick Mercer, a guy from a CBC show. Tom once had a pilot on CBC that was "dropped quicker than a hot potato". Tom had a show nominated for best comedy show on the CBC Gemini awards. It lost to a CBC show. Most of the awards won on the show were CBC shows. See a pattern here? Rick Mercer won 2 awards. That's kinda like Billy Crystal getting 2 Academy awards on Oscar night. Its kinda lame. Tom presented the award for "Best Children's show"...and went unscripted and improvised a bit of his "performance" on stage. Mentioning that he learned how to hump a moose, and suck milk from a cows udder from classic Canadian children shows such as Mr. Dressup, and Fred Penner. In the crowd for the show, Tom sat; middle, and close to the front of the stage. He sat beside famed Canadian director Atom Egoyan (Sweet hereafter, Exotica, Peters Penile Palace.. etc) .He could be seen in several crowd shots throughout the night. Check out some screen grabs from the night of magic. Back to the top     Donny and Marie first appearance. November 1999 Ah the Osmonds, such a lovely duo they make.. you can feel the sexual tension. This is day time television at its best, and this episode actually aired on the American thanksgiving day holiday. How is that for exposing Tom to a new audience? Tom came out on the stage with a vacuumcleaner, and proceeded to walk into the studio audience and hand the vacuum to a fan in the back row. Marie thanks Tom, saying they needed to get a new one anyway. So Tom sits down and has a little conversation with the 2. Donny mentions how he met Tom, on a flight from Atlanta.. where the 2 men snuggled and talked for hours on end. Did I mention that Donny was once Joseph in Joseph and the amazing Technicolor dreamcoat; has never had oral sex with his wife, and has a serious problem with stagefright? Well now I have mentioned it. On an episode of "The Tom Green Show" a segment aired where Tom interrupted a KTLA weather woman's report, Tom came out dressed as a bunny and said "Im a bunny" over and over again. The woman came onto the set of the talk show dressed as a bunny out for revenge. She made a better bunny than Tom. She brought a raw turkey, and made Tom put it on (it was in a baby harness) for some reason. She went "down" on Tom and licked the turkey.. and licked Tom. Either Tom was confused and didnt know what to make of the situation, or he was trying real hard to stay focused and not possibly get turned on by the woman. These are just my opinions, I dont have the inside scoop just yet. After the bunny licking the turkey on Tom bit went to commercial, they came back to have a few more guests with Tom.. his parents. Richard (formally Dick) and Mary Jane Green had just returned from their mothers day gift from Tom... a trip to Tahiti. They all talked about the trip , and how Tom was nice. Mary Jane mentioned the trip was given to them on "another show" but then just came out and said it was on Oprah. Talk show people are so picky about mentioning other shows.. Marie asked if Tom had any siblings.. Mean Joe Green was mentioned.. and was said to be quiet and not like Tom at all. Tom got frisky and started feeling his father up.. later licking his face. Everyone Laughed.. Fin. back to the top   Donny and Marie second appearance. February 2000 First, Tom came out and began sniffing audience members hair, even giving out his own wallet with 43 dollars in it to one lucky fan. Why?.. Its an old standup comedy trick to warm up the crowd, so that at least that one person with the wallet will be on your side. As for the rest of the audience? "One at a time"..Tom says. The hot topic? Monica Lewinsky of course. Everyone is talking about her ya know!, so of course Donny and Marie want to know all about the segment and the fact that Tom and her know each other. Tom plugs her handbag business, and talks about the Ottawa trip and press conference.. did you know that Ottawa was the fabric capitol of the world? well it is! Apparently people dont know what the special press conference was all about.. (it is about Ottawa being the fabric capitol of the world..), so rather than showing the "secret press conference clip", they show the clip with Monica and Tom getting the bedspread from his parents at 4am; and of course everyone goes wild. Talk about the Richard and Mary Jane Green bag follows.. and we learn that Toms parents wont be paid, or even get there bedspread replaced.. they do however get a handbag. Tom forgot that the "laser sword" in StarWars was called a Lightsaber. Wow! We also learn that Donny is a huge fan of the Bum Bum song. Tom explains he is emotionally drained from the writing of the song, but is planning on doing another song after his batteries recharge. Tom puts his ass on Marie Osmond, and then Donny. Donny gets all excited and tries to put his Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor DreamCoat ass on Tom "My bum is on Tommy!" he says.. but Tom avoided the ass. For the finale, Tom produces a pair of scissors, and asks if he can make fabric for a handbag from Donny's "own personal jacket". Donny is none to pleased.. but Tom cuts a massive chunk from the back of his suit jacket. Marie laughs at her brothers misfortune.. but not for long, Tom gets her suit jacket material too.. coming soon from the real Monica inc. The Osmonds bag. back to the top
